Busted PS2? After using HDAdvance and HDD

Ok well I formatted the HDD with WinHIIP and then loaded a bunch of games onto the HDD. I then played DBZ Budokai 2 another game and then i was playing Soul Calibur 2 with the trainer patch and after about 8 rounds it locked up so i shut off the machine...

but now when i try to turn it back on the green light turns on and the fan in the ps2 starts but nothing comes up on the screen and i cant open the tray.

anyone know how this might have happened? what it is? and possibly a fix

Just a thought, and may not be related, but does anyone know if the PS2 internal power supply is really up to the job of powering the latest hard disks? It's quite an extra draw (especially on spin-up) compared to what the PS2 draws!

Which version is that PS2 ? Tray does not open, and black screen on older models usually means a blown fuse and probably a dead BA IC. Of course it has to be examined much more, but this is my first thought.

Sorry about putting this is the wrong place... i was debating which forum it should go under.

Anyways

its a V4 PS2. Before it locked up it sounded like the cd in the drive started to spin like crazy or it was making some sort or noise. the cd that was in was HDAdvance. I would say i was using it for a total of an hour max i played 3 diff games each for not long... i was basically testing them out to make sure they worked properly. The HDD wasnt hot it was warm.

I dont even really get a black screen when i turn the PS2 on... it just flicers once with black and then it just goes back to looking like its not even on to the TV, but the fan continues to spin inside the PS2 and the green light is on.

anyways thanks for the replies... any extra info would help and possibly any fix information if its fiesable.

Well lets have more info on your ps2. Was it modded? Has it been open?

oh ok,

well i modded it with a flip top Mid May 2004. Up to that point it hadnt been used for awhile, i used it alot when i first got it which was around December 2001. When i first put the flip top on I got a few games to work such as Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist, Soul Calibur 2 and a few others. But after awhile it seemed like it was having troubles reading the DVDR copies. But it still read retail games fine. So i havent really used it too much up till the point where i put the HDD in it last night. I havent opened it up yet to see if i can see anything wrong with the board.

also is there a blue eject light??? Sounds like a blown ba58

I agree, sounds like a ba58, you have the exact symptoms for that to be the case, I think it's somewhere near the drive tray area, you could also check two other fuses, they are ps9 and ps10 on the main board, and they are fuses for the hdd, I don't think they could cause the problem you say you have, but it might be worth checking.
