Nice to have PSX-Scene back.
Hi, my 20gig hard drive always get corrupted. But when I checked it with surface scan there is no error. It will work again for a few days if I format it and load the games again. Could it be that there is a problem with my hard drive or network card?
How come I can't format my hard drive on the network using hdldumpguiv14. But there is no problem adding or deleting a game over the network.

did you scan & repair with WinHIIP 1.7.6 ?
yup I did but it didn't help.
to resolve the problem I need to format it again then install the games again. but after a week or two broken partition again.
it would be much easier if I can format the drive over the network using HDL_Dump GUI v1.5
then it might be the hdd have a bad sectors
I've checked the hard drive with HD Tune and its ok.
But will try to use another hard drive to be sure.

No. Such a test result only means that no unrecoverable errors occured during that particular test. But this does not necessarily mean that the drive is OK.Quote:

Originally I have a 160Gb there but I'm afraid that my son will kill it since their is no way to shut down the drive properly that is why I replaced it with 20Gb. When playing a game, when is the best time to turn off the PS2 so that the hard drive is not damage. Cause even on the main screen the PS2 is still accessing the drive.

The proper way to shut the PS2 down when a HDD is in it , is to press the reset button in til it turns red (goes into standby mode), then power it off from the back switch.
Putting the ps2 in standby mode makes the console shut down , kinda like Windows does before it actually powers off a PC. If you just simply turn off the console from the power switch in back, you risk possible file/partition corruption if the HDD is being accessed at the time you turn it off.
