What's the best tool for formatting a 120gb ide hdd? Can I use the dms tool even if I don't have a dms chip? Also, will I need the 'original' hdloader to play games off the hdd?

Use HDLoader to format the drive.. and use HDLdump or WinHIIP to install/delete games from the HDD... for this purpose, you need the HDD connected to the PS2 via network adapter.. fire up HDLoader to format the drive, then connect the HDD to PC to install/delete the games you want from a CD/DVD/PC HDD....yes, u need the original HDLoader to do this..

You can also use DMS Format to create, rename, remove, and expand partition sizes on your hard drive... u do not need DMS chip for this.. but your ps2 must be able to boot homebrews like uLF in order to boot DMS format...next, you can use HDL dump/WinHIIP to install/delete games..

Note- Most people assume they need to create a new partition for use with HDLoader. Do not use DMS HDD Format tool to make one big partition for use with HDLoader! HDLoader does not install programs into a single partition like Windows, but it installs each game into its seperate partition automatically. You may have a hard drive that has both HDLoader partitions and DMS HDD Format tool partitions; this is normal!

    Hope this helps..

I thought saving 15% on my car insurance was good but having my ps2 modded by N£TM£ÇH was way better!

If u format the HDD, u'll lose everything on it...
If it's already HDL formatted, u need only DMS Format Tool to create partition on it. U have to decide how big the partition will be too.

DMS can be launch from the MC or the HDD.
