    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
    If you are going to run a female to male IDE cable outside of your case it has to be cut down with a utility knife to 6 inches and viced back together! Also I started out with a 24 inch cable and couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the HD to format or backup a game for anything.
    Just make sure you use a 6" IDE Cable

    I Didn't read the external mod thread in modding section therefore I missed that whole 6" cable bit and boy did I learn the hard way lol

    that was said specifically in the ps2 mod forum with the ps2 external hdd mod tutorial.
    and yes if you dont have a vice you can get crimping tools too.
    and yes getting a male to female connector is a bitch.
    I will soon be supplying those connectors in the uk and europe for a cheap price :P
