Ive heard of FTP programs or what not, but can people install ISO images onto the Ps2's HD from their computer usng a network cable plugged into both the network adapter and computer?

If not, is HDL_DUMP/ HD Loader V1.2 / WINHIIP or whatever, my only options?

    Thanks.

Right now, no you can't through the Network. Your only option is with one of the HDL Dump programs. Maybe one day it will be possible though.

K cool thanks. I might invest in an external casing since I currently have 2 drives in here, although it wouldnt be TOO hard to unclip one and mount it up as slave.

As far as loading ORIGNAL isos ps2s on the HD. That can be done in place at the ps2, right?

The ps2ftpd is being worked on last i heard. the version they released(or that got released) only had trnasfers of like 5 kb/s. which would take like 3 days to transfer a game, lol. Maybe soon they will release another better version.

The transferring speed to and from the HDD is quite slow, I can get around 20k with it, but in MODE1 memorycard only, you get better speeds of around 40k to 50k. So speed is not the only problem, as access to the partitions made by HDLoader can't be viewed either. But let's hope these all get ironed out soon.

i have 2 computers in the home, the one in my room has all the images, the one in the living room barely has space so i just give full share options (read/write) under XP and i can use HDL_Dump/b,WinHIIP to install games from my other computer. thats about as close as youre gonna get for installing games over network.

Unless PS2 TCP/IP networking is running at least on 1MBps (10Mbit) there is no point working on networking-based installer, since a single install would take forever. As I see it, the other way would be to use PS2 Linux running a server (or a client, depending on the point of view) allowing remote installations from the Windowz box.

the network adapter should be capable of running 10/100 no problem. It does after all support all broadband connections. so, my guess is it would be able to run 10MBps
