anyway to transfer Isos from Mac to PS2?
anyway to transfer Isos from Mac to PS2? –
i know how to transfer from pc-ps2 but my PC died on me and im buying a mac since i like them better but i don't know if its possible to transfer isos from mac-ps2. If anyone can let me know if there is a program, thanks.
Yeah ummmm get a virtual machine that'll run DOS programs (use HDL_Dump and learn how to use the command line) and an IDE-to-Firewire adapter.
Then throw out your idea of getting a cutting edge mac in favor of a computer that will actually run stuff. Sorry. You wanna do cool stuff? The best ways to hack your iPod or Mac or other *nix box is to get it to run Windows. That way you can actually use programs NOT authorized by the All-knowing Steve Jobs. (Rant Sorry)
Or even better. Install Linux on your Playstation. DOS on your XBox. And Windows XP on your Gamecube.
Why do people always gotta ask hypothetical questions.
I can think of it. Therefore, somebody's already done it. And they'll explain to me exactly how. And hold my hand while I do it...

The mac Virtual PC is useless. You'd be better off getting a $300 Dell (or something) without a monitor and using a KVM switch. I love my mac, wouldnt trade it for the world, but I still keep a windows PC around for little things like this.
VirtualPC is useful.
Use VirtualPC with hdl_dump GUI througt LAN for send games to PS2. Is slow but effective.
At this time i have a version of hdl_dump (command line) for OSX but it not work properly.
Sorry for my english.
I use Virtual PC 7 running windows XP. I have no problems connecting my G4 ibook to my PS2. I use the latest version of HDL dumb, it allows queueing so I can set it up before I go to bed and in the morning its transfered all the iso files over. So but it works. I did nine games in one go once!
Same here, I use VPC running WinXP and hdld_gui (from LordBoGaMi) and everything work fine. I get about 0.7 Mbs to transfert a game by LAN via Airport.
Btw, I really would like to use an OS X compiled version of hdl_dump, but I can't get it work :
0000003d (61): Connection refused
Of course, it's not a connection issue as I can ping the PS 2 and hdld_gui sees the PS 2 without troubles.
Nobody got hdl_dump to work on Mac ?
Ok, don't know how I did it but I did it. I managed to compile hdl_dump 0.8.3 and it works fine now. I got my first iso uploaded to the PS2, but the speed is awfull !
This is a 49 MB iso file, and it took more than 10 minutes !
yoc$ ./hdl_dump inject_dvd 192.168.1.101 "Fruit Fall" /Volumes/Media/Fruit\ Fall.iso
90%, 2 min, 25 sec remaining, 0.04 MB/sec
Any idea ?
I tried different way to compile it : gcc 3.4, gcc 4, I played with ACK, COMPRESS...
Strangely, the best speed I got is with every ACK on 'no' (0.07 MB/s or 0.54 Mb/s). This is slower than with hdl_dumb with Virtual PC (0.7 Mb/s) but better than 0.03 MB/s !
Can someone explain me what is the best compilation option I have to use ? I use hdld_svr 0.8.3 (the one included in hdl_dumb 0.8.3)

I don't know if it can help you, but here is the content of my ~/.hdl_dump.conf file (nope, this isn't a mac =):
"\"udp_delay_time\"" = "1000"
"\"udp_quick_packets\"" = "7"
"disc_database_file" = "./hdl_dump.list"
"enable_aspi" = "no"
"limit_to_28bit" = "yes"
"partition_naming" = "toxicos"
"udp_delay_time" = "4"
"udp_quick_packets" = "15"
"use_compression" = "yes"
use the new BootCamp software from apple to load WinXp on your Mac in addition to OSX... then transfer all the files you want from MAC->PS2 using windows.. :-)
