  1. #1 Any PS2 Linux tools...?

I'm thinking of getting the PS2 Linux Kit. And I was wondering if there are any PS2 Linux tools available for playing backups of games off of the HDD. Like, either taking the files off of the disc with a PC and transfering them to the PS2, or doing it directly inside PS2 Linux.

I've also wondered about the other apps shown on this site. If they're loaded with HDLoader, and similar programs, or if they're loaded with PS2 Linux.

I'm sure the Linux Kit has amazing posibility for the underground developers. I just don't know if any underground people have gotten into the Linux scene for PS2 or not. Since you can load your own homebrew demos and games with the PS2 Linux, I figured it wouldn't be much of a stretch to load retail games with an iso or the game files.

    Anyone know?

AFAIK you *cannot* run Playstation 2 games from within Linux kit. Same for backups. You *might* be able to run homebrew Linux games.

Well, I have read that you can write PS2 demos or programs, and use the Linux Kit to compile them and run them, complete with PS2 button maps and stuff. I've read on the official outlets that it has all the tools of a PS2 Dev Kit, but without the ability to make your own bootable discs, obviously.
I just figured that since it has that kind of ability, that maybe you could boot import discs or backups.

Well, hate to break it too you, but Sony sold out of the Linux kit back in June. No more kits will be made. There was pretty much a flood of people buying it in May when they dropped the price to $99. Since the HDD included works with games when formatted with the HDD Utility Disk from the retail HDD/FFXI kit, everyone who didn't want FFXI but wanted an official HDD and a bunch of other cool stuff (keyboard, mouse, network adapter, linux software) jumped on it in a hurry.
