    2. You will boot HDLoader with the CD you purchased. Once it boots you can put in your original disk and copy it to HDLoader. If you have a modded PS2 you can copy burned games. If your PS2 is not modded you can not copy burned games. If you wanted burned games in your HDLoader you would have to put the PS2 harddrive in your computer and copy the burned game image to it. You can use HDLdumb or winhiip to do this. You can also run an the expoit and transfer games to your PS2 by lan (takes forever) if you don't want to move the drive back and fourth.

    Please visit the hdloader wiki

is it even worth having the hdloader compared to just having burnt copies of games?

it's a bit quicker to load on some games (but i have only noticed it on two of mine: ratchet & clank 3 (two spaceship flight cut-scenes to go to another level instead of the usual 3), and V8 Supercars...)

the reason it's not quicker on a lot of games is that the games expect it to take a while and wait anyway even when the data is already loaded.

also with HDLoader all you have to do is power on your console and select a game... i personally hate swapping discs in and out and my discs tend to end up sitting stacked upside-down on top of the TV when i play them...

it doesn't require a modchip, which is a big factor for some people.

so juddman if you get the hd loader its only to limit the amount of games you carry on you, and you dont need a mod-chip to work it. but wouldnt it be cheapier to get the chip installed and less work of swapping the hd in and out to download games?

    I have a mod'd PS2 and I run HDL / Exploit for two reasons.

I like the fast load times when I play games from the HD.

Less wear and tear on my laser/unit, because sony has used cheap ass parts. The no.1 problem with modded PS2s is burnt out laser from CDR,DVDR media.

One of the advantages for me (using HDLoader) is that I can put about 95% of my game collection (I own over 50 games) into myHDD. Now I can carry my entire collection (almost entire) anywhere. Pardon my french, but THAT ****ING RULES!!!
All you gotta do is go out and buy a huge Maxtor HDD (stay under 300gb just to be safe, all Maxtor HDDs work). I bought a 200gb Maxtor HDD for $129 with a $50 mail-in rebate, making it $80+tax! I garauntee you can fit at least 50 games on it! I can't even begin to tell you all the great stuff you can do with the memorycard exploit once you're packing a big ass hard drive!

young meezy i got the hd, and it is a great thing to have . i still dont understand about the mc exploit but my ps2 is set up to run from the hd using hdloader patch. and it uses a ps1 game to triger it. its close to your exploit but it still suits me.

that's cool!! You really only want to use the MC exploit if you wanna play retro game emulators & non-game related stuff (since you already have HDLoader running).Right now my PS2 is set up to run HDLoader, Sega Genesis, Gameboy color, NES 8-bit & Vectrex as well as play MP3s mostly from my HDD (the vectrex emulator only loads games from the USB drive). My goal is to transform my PS2 into a mega-multimedia machine that I can carry around without needing any discs whatsoever (except for my PSX trigger disc that is).
