Is there anyway to access the ps2 folders other than ps2net / ftp?,
host: / ps2link provides quicker file transfer but it's only for sending files from the pc to ps2 right you can't transfer ps2 folder / files to the pc with it? is there any other option over than ftp? or is just the case that no gui frontend has been made for this, I noticed weltall's gui had a option to dump memory so it seems doable with commands by reversing the target folder from pc to ps2.

I used to use a program called PS2PFSExplorer.exe, but haven't in quite awhile. But that needs to be connected your your pc to use. I also can't quite remember what all it sees.

Otherwise I just use uLe and copy to USB, then to pc.

    That is incorrect.

As a safety precaution, to avoid people damaging their PC OS setups, the HOST protocol as implemented by uLE treats the remote filesystem as write protected, but that state can be overridden by a user option in the CNF file:

The CNF entry "NET_HOSTwrite = 0" is what normally prevents writing to the PC filesystem,
and changing it to "NET_HOSTwrite = 1" will allow you to create or modify files on the PC.

But you will have to modify that setting by manually editing "LAUNCHELF.CNF", since there is no entry for doing it in the uLE configuration menus. (Another paranoid safety precaution.)

Here is the relevant section of the uLE "changes.txt" covering this feature:

-Implemented HOST interface write access to networked PC. This uses a new CNF variable named "NET_HOSTwrite" which has a default value of "0" meaning it is disabled. For reasons of safety there is no way to change this value from the config menu. Edit it yourself, and set its value to "1" (or any other non-zero value) to enable the new abilities, which include the following menu functions 'Cut', 'Paste', 'mcPaste', 'Delete', 'Rename', 'New Dir'. Note that most of the new functions require a very recent version of ps2client or RadHostClient to function, and at present the 'Rename' function only works with the ps2client version specially patched for LaunchELF. (Available in the LaunchELF forum.) (NB: file writing seems bugged in RadHostClient v1.5)
-Added modified sources for ps2client to the folder "Changed source for external projects".
As you can see this feature has been in the program for over three and a half years...

Edit: What was I thinking... that should of course be: 'over four and a half years'...

    Btw:
Be very careful about what you do on the PC with write enabled HOST.
There is no 'UNDO' feature whatsoever implemented (or possible).

Also, avoid trying to mount VMC files remotely, as that can destroy those files.
This effect varies with different HOST client programs at the PC end.
RadHostClient seems the safest, but extremely slow in such usage, and prone to freezing.

That is probably because one IOP device driver ( vmc: ) is accessing another IOP device driver ( host: ) which is accessing complex IOP subroutines for networking, which is a bit too much for safe usage...

    Best regards: dlanor

I guess I had some temporary bit errors in my cerebral RAM that day.
It happens when I've stayed up too many days in a row without sleep...
