How much would you say the 8mb cache on HDD's effects the performance on the PS2? I'm considering getting a hdd, but I don't have much cash 'cause I gotta buy a mem card as well, so im thinking of downgrading to the version w/out 8mb cache, but how does it effect it?

my friend has a maxtor with a 2MB cache ... dunno the exact model off hand, but I see no performance difference than my 8MB ... so I'd say no, but this may be a select case ... anyone?

    On PS2:

A 8MB cache drive is not faster than a 2MB cache drive.

A 7200RPM drive is not faster than a 5400RPM drive.

in performance of a pc...there can be a difference between different rpm's and cache sizes is just too little of a difference for most to notice. However, you're ps2 isn't a pc...thus said, it would have no effect on size cache or rpm.
