24bit vs 48bit lba - HELP!!!
it woud be a waste of time, as it's not a format, it's a mode the HDD driver is run in. it determines how far the ps2 can read into the drive, so if you had a big drive and used a tool running with 48 bit LBA mode to make a partition or install a game (all games are installed onto their own partition) on the 128th gigabyte (or higher), you'd not be able to access that partition when running with 24 bit LBA.
you could switch your HDLoader to 48bit LBA, you won't benefit from it with a small drive though, but it can't hurt, and you might want to put a bigger drive in later. you don't need to reformat or anything, and you can switch back with no problems unless you have a large drive and used more than 127GB. (but why you would want to switch back i don't know.)
Reformatting the drive may reduce fragmentation, but only cause you'd be putting the games back onto a nice clean empty drive. there'd be no long term benefit though.
