is it possible to use a gbc gameshark in the emulator? i have searched the forums for this and i keep getting stuff on how to install freemc boot with gameshark but nothing here on using it. or is there some other way to use codes. would be great to know. (and no for those skeptics out there, i dont like cheating on games. but some of these longer more dreadful gb and gbc games, have good stories and i like to go through the story again without the hassle of a crappy UI

The gameshark programs mentioned in the FMCB context are all PS2 gamesharks having nothing to do with the gameboy stuff you wanted to use.
I don't really know exactly how gamesharks for gameboy are used on original gameboy units, but I doubt very much that they can be used at all with our emulators.

I agree, but I don't know of any good source of info on this. Generally I expect cheating in an emulator to be done by cheat support in the emulation engine, if at all...
Doing it by the same means as with a real cheat engine as used on the original console to be emulated would require much higher emulation CPU speed and other resources, normally not available to an emulator on the PS2. If it works at all it will probably be both laggy and glitchy.

The reasons for why and the details of how you use game cheats are your own business and none of ours. Some people even use cheats to raise the difficulty of games (raising enemy strength, exp per level up, or prices of items, etc)

I rarely play a game without cheating. If there are codes, I use them. There are some games I really like that I will not play because they are just too hard for me, so using cheat codes to make it easier definitely makes me want to play the game.
Anyways, you could patch your Game Boy roms with Game Genie codes as an option for emulators without cheat functions.
You might want to make a backup of your roms too if you do patch them, just to be safe.

Thank's for the info, that program is cool. Gameshark has much more cheats though, and it's possible to use them on this emulator.
This only works on games which use a battery ram save feature (.sav file), and you need to be able to save in the codes (pokemon is a great example). All you need is the PC emu VisualBoyAdvance...boot the rom and enter the codes then save the game. Then transfer the save back to your PS2 MC, and wallah!
