Hi all,
Just bought a used ps2 (the original not the slim one) from eBay. Never had a ps2 before so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Games play great, but when I tried to play a movie I rented from Blockbuster I got sound but no video. Is it me or did I get hosed?
Also there is an opening on the back of the unit about 4" x 1". Can anyone tell me what goes in there?
Thanks for any help.

that large opening sounds like where the network adaptor goes, if its the big one that is right behind the dvd drive. The net adaptor also allows for an HD. some use the hd for linux, others use it for transferring games onto to improve loading times. I forgot what its called but theres a program you need for that.
As for the audio problem, go into the configuration to set your audio settings. just start the ps2 with no disc and you'll see the options for browser and the setup below it. Make sure the sound isnt set to digital out unless you have a surround sound system.

Thanks for the reply Videofiend. I will have to get a network adapter and hd.
But I think you misunderstood my post. Games work great but when I try to watch a movie, I get good quality sound but no picture. I don't think it's the laser because then I don't believe the games would work either. Maybe I'm doing something wrong because the unit didn't come with any documentation but I don't know what.
