PS2 DVD Playback
Hi everyone :)
I'm new to the PS2 scene & these forums also didn't think this belonged in the DVD movie section so posted here.
Basically I've got the new Slimline PS2 SCPH-7003 I think.
I got this Demo DVD in a magazine. It doesn't have any playable games on it, its just a watchable DVD containing Xbox,PS2 & PC games. It plays fine in a normal DVD player but when I try to play it in the console everything is a Bright Green colour but you can see a hint of colours mainly red & blue. Its kind of like viewing something through Night Vision Goggles. All other DVD's play fine on the console so I'm just thinking that it's a problem with the disc & has anyone else experienced this before? Can anything be changed in the settings to rectify this?

very very weird problem  I don't even know what that could possibly be to be honest, anyone know?

yeah - very weird. The best bet would be to try it in another ps2 and see if it works - but I'd reckon it sounds like a faulty disc if all other ps2 titles work fine.

if you are using a RGB cable then you must have a modchip witch disables the green screen thing whit rgb-cables

Hmmm thanks for the input folks but I found that the problem was caused by me using my official Sony Scart cable that I bought for use with my PS1 many years ago. It works fine on games & I only get this problem on DVD playback. Why would I need a modchip though? After all its an official Sony product so shouldn't it be compatible? Is there nothing that could be changed in the settings to stop this?

I believe that is intentional by SONY with their PS2. It happens also with the Component cable.
Either you get chip'd that disable this or watch on your DVD player... o_O

Hi,
I have a different question, but the title of this thread fits.
I have a V4 without a mod chip.
Should it be able to play backup copies of DVD movies?
This one will not.
I know that a V7, V9, V10 will all play movie backups without a modchip,
thanks
