It's only for use with a HDTV, also in the case of the PS2 I'm fairly certain its only aplicable to movies as I don't know of any games designed to support progressive scan. Every 1/60 of a second (technically 1/59.94 secs here in NTSC land and 1/50 sec in PAL conutries) one field is drawn on the screen. When its drawn the lines are alternated i.e. line 1,3,5, ... for the first field and then lines 2,4,6, ... for the second field. Now with progressive scan the lines are doubled thus leading to an entire frame being drawn onto the screen. As to what versions have it available V9 was the first with all subsequent versions including it as well.
Excellent, thanks a lot
there is such an option in tekken 4 (pal version)
btw does progressive scan make a pal game run at fullspeed ntsc?
or does it use the native (and shitty) 50hz or doesn't that apply at all when using progressive ?????
This is kinda ocnfusing
To clarify something; It's not gonna draw both fields at once, but in fact doubles each line for each field.
Thus for PAL it's still gonna operate at the standard 50 hz

Burnout 2 and Burnout 3 can output in progressive scan. When the game is loading (the screen says loading) hold the x and triangle buttons until the game finishes loading and you will be given the option to place the game into progressive scan mode. Note, you need to be using component cables for this work properly.
This site has a list of games that support Progressive Scan.![]()

Not quite. That's only in reference to DVD playback. Only the V9 and up can do progressive scan DVD movies. As for progressive scan in *games*, all models of the PS2 can do that from launch systems through the latest "PStwo."Originally Posted by Zainal
I see; I was basing my statement on the fact that I wasn't aware of any games that support progressive scan

Socom2, NBA2k5, and a bunch of other games have progressive output. I have a Version 4 PS2 and it supports Pscan. All you have to do is get the compnent cables and turn on the output in the individual games. Man you have no knowledge of this to be commenting with such resolve.
