    Here's what I have:
    PS2 V10 w/ Romeo Mod and Matrix Infinity 1.35
    Optical Audio out

Dolby Digital 5.1 works great on all DVDs (that have it), however on one dvd, U2 Slane Castle DVD, it will not switch to DTS no matter what I do. I set DTS in the DVD menu, go to play the movie and it's on linear PCM. Press the audio button on the PS2 remote and there's only 2 tracks, PCM and DD5.1. I do believe other DVDs work with DTS. I have a DTS CD that plays fine.

    Has anybody else experienced this?

Is your DVD origianl or a backup?
If it's a backup propably the DTS track has been ripped out because of its huge size(usually 500-600 MB or even higher).

just to make sure first, do you have a dts decoder or whatever its called to play DTS? or is it build in whatever system you have? if so, is there a way to set the audio to stream or something? not linear pcm? cause in my dvd player i used to set it up to some pcm and it never played dts until i switched to stream or something

but than its the ps2 dvd player and i never used it, so i have no idea.

As I said, DTS on other DVD/CDs works fine.

I have my stereo set to auto. It has nothing to do with my receiving equipment, it is the PS2.. it's only recognizing two audio streams on the DVD.

Ok, correction. It DOES NOT work on other DVDs. Just tried my official No Doubt DVD, only sees 2 streams, no DTS. However some DTS audio CD I have works fine. I don't get it.

There is a setting somewhere in there to enable different audio formats in the DVD player. See e.g. http://www.answerbag.com/q_view.php/4354

And your DTS CDs work, because on a CD the DTS data in encapsulated inside normal PCM so your PS2 does not even know it is in fact playing a DTS track.

I knew there was some trick to the DTS CDs.. but I just wanted to prove to the people that my equipment can decode DTS.

I'll take a look at that site
