I don't understand your insistence on needing to use USB for direct gamesaving, but a VMC emulator does exist for that purpose, using either IDE HDD or USB drives to store the gamesaves. The problem is that it will fail to work for many games and may cause various undocumented bugs even for the games it does work with.
Personally I prefer using real MCs, with gamesave backup methods to free up space if/when needed.
And if you were just looking for ways to avoid buying any real MC, then you need to think again, because without at least one real MC you can just about forget using any homebrew software at all. Nearly all of it requires MC as the common medium for configuration files.

I looked at what I typed and said to myself, "You have to be high for that to make sense" And I wasnt when I typed that. Now I am, and I see the confusion. Let me be specific.
I have been in 32 man online franchise leagues for Madden on the ps2. In those leagues we could all share the same file, make games from file, spawn them online and save the results of those games and the merge them with the franchise file. All stats would be accurate to what games we played. Pretty awesome. But there was a glitch. The merge option stops working over time and merged games with file.
The glitch was somehow fixed by some guys that were able to view and change the information in that franchise file on the MC. Then the file would again be able to take on more merge game files without error so we could keep playing with accurate stats. I would like get that file onto the computer somehow.
Thanks again.

If that is all you want, then I don't see the problem.
Any file or folder that is currently stored on an MC can easily be copied to a USB drive using the FileBrowser of uLaunchELF. The only requirement for this to work is that the USB partition must be formatted to use the FAT32 filesystem. (The NTFS filesystem is not supported.) You should be able to do such formatting with any PC, if it is not already used on your USB drive. (Large pendrives are often pre-formatted to FAT32, though smaller ones often use FAT16 instead.)
Making sensible use of that file once you have it on your PC is another matter, which requires game-specific insight into how that file is used, which I have no ideas about...

So fat32 and what excactly do I do with the UlaunchELF? And will I be able to return this file back to the MC?
And is there anyone that can make heads or tails of this file on this board? These guys that figured it out were no geniuses, and I am no genius, so logically I would have to presume I am capable of getting this done.
This ULaunchELF, is there a tutorial on here that you might point me in the direction of?
Thanks again.

uLaunchELF (aka: uLE) is a homebrew program used for generic file management on a PS2. It handles the launching of any other programs both via shortcut buttons and through a FileBrowser, and that same browser also supports file/folder copying between any PS2 supported media (including networked PC), as well as gamesave-specific backup methods using a dedicated file format (the PSU format also used by the commercial backup devices from EMS). In addition to those functions uLE also contains other subprograms like TextEditor, HddManager, JpgViewer and FTP server and some other stuff.
uLE is not an OS in any way, but it does perform many of the same functions for a PS2 as the Windows explorer and some other utilities do for a Windows PC.
And will I be able to return this file back to the MC?
Like I said, uLE can copy files between any PS2 supported devices, so writing files back to MC is no problem.

That remains an open question. I have no idea if others on this site have any interest in that game. (I myself do not, since I am mainly an RPG fanatic...)

uLaunchELF has a separate subforum on this site, and this is housed inside the main forum for Homebrew/Dev stuff.
But I think you may also need to visit the forum for "Free MC Boot" (aka: FMCB), since you do not mention any method you have available for running homebrew programs, and without that you are not able to use uLE.
FMCB on the other hand offers a good way to get homebrew booting on an unmodded console, provided it is not from one of the latest batches of Sony's production (best made before July 2008), since the latest bios version blocks this boot method completely.
Of course, if you do have a modded console, then you can probably boot uLE either by using a burned boot disc or by placing the uLE "BOOT.ELF" onto memory card for use with the Dev1 boot mode of your chip, which is implemented in most high quality chips like DMS4 and MI. But for cheaper modchips you might still find FMCB useful as a complement.
