I recently bought a offical remot for the PS2 fat but it did not come with any utility disk.
Anyone know where I can download an elf so that I can fully use the buttons on the remote?

If your fat console is one of the older models, without built-in IR sensor, then you will never be able to use the remote fully. On those consoles all the 'receiver-dongle' put in the controller slot can do is to simulate a normal gamepad controller, using only the same button combos available on a normal gamepad.

That's how it works on my v7 fat PS2. So many remote buttons have no effect at all on that console, though they work just fine with my v10 fat console and my v15 slim console.

And of course, on the latter consoles the 'dongle' is not to be used at all, as that would just mess things up. (Simulated gamepad input would then occur in parallel to built-in IR-reception.)

Admittedly, my remotes are not Sony originals (never found any here), but some 3rd party remotes for the PS2. But I'm pretty sure the same rules apply to the Sony stuff.

    Best regards: dlanor

SCPH-5000x series PS2 consoles and newer have the built in IR unit. anything older needs the IR dongle.
