    Lets get the forum started

Which DVD playing system do you prefer? XBOX's, PS2's, or a standalone player? Things to be considered are speed, functinality, and the interface.

I think, quite obviously, if I have something that I bought for playing dvds (a dvd player), I will be watching my dvds on that.

standalone because my home theater 5.1 setup doesn't work on ps2

Edit : also is it true that you can watch HDTV movies/trailers etc on an xbox?

733MHZ for this seems like not enough processing power

I love my PS2 as a media center. I just wish we could play movies off of the hard drive using something other than the AR Evo Max elf file for mpeg files.

I prefer to play DVD's using my standalone Samsung DVDN501 DVD player (I've owned this Samsung since Oct 2001). I only use my PS2 to play DVD's which have problems playing in my DVD player, I've had a few which refuse to play in my Samsung & the DVD's where from Troma (Yep, Troma, the B-movie company which bought use movies such as Toxic Avenger, Class Of Nuke 'Em High, et al).

I play my DVDs in a Pioneer DV-636D as long as my TV is analog.
When i'll get a TV with component input, i will likely use the PS2 since it has progressive scan (V9), that is, if the D.MS team fixes the Prog.scan bug (Progressive scan option hidden when D.MS modchip active :/ )
    Later,

    Alcahest

You haven't lived until you have used Xbox media centre ... I'am yet to find a format that the latest version doesn't support.
