Problem with starting a NeoGeo CD game

I burned the ngcd emu (.04) as according to the instructions and I have a proper bios file. When I try to load Samurai Spirits RPG, it shows the CD picture and then it goes back to the Insert a CD and/or press X to continue screen. Pressing X again (multiple times) does not solve this problem. Each time I press it, I go to that CD pciture screen and then back to the Insert a CD screen.

I know that I have the correct neocd.bin and a good Samurai Spirits RPG disc because I can run the game using NeoCD/SDL for Windows using the same bios and the same gamedisc as I am using now.

I am on a PS2 V4 with a Messiah mod and have been able to run other emus in the past (like PSGen).

Could someone please help? Thanks.

hmm.. weird...

it's an original disc or a backup (I mean samurai spirit) ?
