xbox controller for ps2.
xbox controller for ps2. –
i am a total newb when it comes to ps2. flame me all you want if its not posible, but i want to use a xbox controller on ps2. i havent seen any xbox to ps2 joypay converters so i guess that it might not be possible, but is it, i havent really got a straight answer. i saw a ps2 to usb so you can use a ps2 controller on a pc, so i thought that i could rip one of those apart and hook the usb end up to an xbox controller and take a broken ps2 controller cord and match the wires up to that from the ps2 end of the converter and then taking the xbox controller and hooking it up to the usb end. i dont know if that would work or if their is a simpler way. if their is point me in that direction if not then ill stick with the ps2 controller. thanks very much.
Yes it is quite possible but would require much work. You can make any contoller work with any system, if you understand how a contoller works. All the buttons are like monetary switches and all buttons are the same in taht sense. However the analog sticks are different, but the ps2 and xbox both have 2 analog sticks. I recommend looking at the tutorial on the old school snes controller tutorioo. Just do a search on the case-modification thread, the on ewe are in right now.
And you would have to splice up all the wires and wire it manually......maybe ill give it a try......just need some more time
i love wiring stuff, so the wiring is no prob, but would my idea work of the ps2 to usb adapter?
i think it out work it just would work backwards. i dont really like how the ps2 controller feels. i would use the black and white buttons for l2 and r2. and the triggers for r1 and r2. the only game i have right now is GTA SA and i really would like it if i could play with an xbox controller.
i was searching xbox-scene for answers and i rememberd that the xbox has 2 usb ports and an xbox controller is ran off usb, could i hack up my broke controller and cut off a usb cord and wire it all up and plug it in to the usb port would the ps2 recognise it as a controller? what are those usb ports their anyways?
there are xbox to usb connectors...the part that breaks away...that way you would not have to cut anything or wire anything ...as long as the ps2 will recognize the controller...the xbox to usb works well...i have a couple and i use them on my pc...i dont know much about the ps2

Reason: another link
I don't think hooking it up to the usb would work. It's worth a try though. I don't know of any game that uses usb gamepads. Although I usualy stick to rpgs.
Right now I am working on n64 to ps2 pad hack.
i am thinking that hooking it up to usb would not work either. i was thinking of taking an adapter so you can use your ps2 controller on an xbox and just reverse the function so it would work backwards.
