man you should have sized those for the page....
what did you use... I've thought about using aluminum paint on mine... $25 bucks a gallon..... I have other projects I want to use it on as well...
those pics look really nice.
Not meant to flame / attack, but your pictures show lack of attention to quality to me. Under the edge of the pstwo unit for example still retains a bit of black in those pictures. I do not know if this is an example of your current work, or if this particular unit was rushed, etc...
It also looks like the standby button light has been painted over. Do you normally do this on your consoles?
The under your edge part you are talking about is due to photgraphic shadow. this console is painted inside and out. And I painted over reset light for a simple reason...I didn't even know about it. When I did this particular console, I didn't even test them when I bought them, I just immediatly ripped them apart and painted them. I honestly didnt know there was a light there. It easy to cover up. A little drop of vaseline acts as good cover up for a small small detail like that. Its a good leason as well, take a very fine paintbrush and paint on vaseline to cover up parts or small graphics that are too hard to do with regular masking tape. The vaseline never dries, and when you are done painting, just wipe it off and it comes off perfectly with the graphic perserved.Originally Posted by True
Although I hardly think I need to explain myself to you Mr I have only 2 Posts and like to rip on other peoples work. My work is excellent and you have a ****y tone to your words. You think you can do better? Then just go do it! Don't flame other peoples work without presenting a better example of your own work! Find anyone else out there who will paint the controller ports? Find anyone else who can replicate chrome the way I did...and that crap from the hardware store don't count and just try ordering a chrome bridge strip from e-linksoft. You fill find what you get in the mail is a far cry from the nice example they have on their site.
I meant nothing in harm, and to have such an unprofessional, attacking reply to my statement just makes me want to write more. I am not bound to a product, but I will do my best to explain clearly what I write.
You mention photographic shadow. Yes, I do see some shadowing from the lighting in the controller ports. I also see some other shadowing on the unit that was photographed. However, I still believe that some parts were not painted throughly. I should mention that the part that isn't painted actually appears to be under the lid. While it is raised slightly, it does not appear to be this raising that is the cause of the lack of paint.

(full application of paint, zoomed 2x, no touchups / with lack of paint, zoomed 2x, no touchups)
Both of these were obtained from the same part of the pstwo unit, and from the same photograph. The left-most hanging over edge and the CD lid - both the left-most ledges - are the examples.
This is what I was curious about. If this is a camera problem, do you have another photograph to show the underside ledge of the lid?
As far as two posts go: yes, this is true. I don't believe that instantly disqualifies critiquing and questioning of work. You may believe this, and if so, then so be it. I don't believe post count is a limitation of one's knowledge or abilities.
Regarding your "You think you can do better?," my intent was never to do this to begin with. But alas, one of my pstwo units has been cracked open and is in the process right now. If you really want to contest, I will provide finished pictures for when the unit is done.
For the good thing - which is a generous reply, considering the context of your previous statements, the tip with petroleum is a good one, which I rarely remember (I don't paint that often, and think I may have used it once). I wouldn't have thought or remembered to use it on this project or any other, had you not said it previously.. I don't intend to paint the buttons, since I think with my project they would look better as original, but this is a very good tip for anyone reading. I do thank you for mentioning it.
As I stated before, this is not intended to flame, attack, or discredit you. I simply am curious. It is hard for me to know due to the low quality of the pictures what the true outcome of your work is. As I also stated, I did not know if this was a rushed unit, first unit, or anything along those lines. Rather than attacking, it may have been more beneficial to both of us for you simply to explain, or perhaps, request that I explain... Hopefully, this can be done with another reply.

)You have to make sure that when you use vaseline to cover stuff, that the paintjob is FULLY DRY. Because when you wipe off the vaseline, its going to of course smear the vaseline all over your paintjob. But if the paintjob is dry, this isnt a proble, you just wipe it off with vigor.
And with regards to TRUEs post, the pics on my site show better finish on the edges and under the logo. This paint is metallic after all and the edges are painted perfectly. I see what you are saying with your enlargment, but at the same time, when you zoom in like that you can make anything seem anyway. It is an edge, and that is how edges look when taken a photo off. The light is hitting the console straight up, a shadow will result. If you had actually used some reason, you would have looked at the photo with the lid OPEN and seen the full coverage of paint in the area you claim to be lacking paint. When two pieces meet, there is no light on the inside. OF COURSE ITS GOING TO LOOK BLACK WHEN THERE IS NO LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE THE PIECE. WIth the little bump on the top of the logo, again, its a photographic artifact. So shoot me if I don't have a SLR 11 megapixel camera. I mean, this is such an EASY paint job, the errors you point out cant exist. I removed the little PS logo, and gave it 3 layers of paint from my airgun in different angles. Any idiot can do that. For the black parts you claim to exist to actually exist, it would have to be done on purpose. I would have to be the most skilled painter int he world the exclusivly keep those edges black.
You speak clearly, and you have a seemingly level of technical prowess that makes it seem like you know what you are talking about, but when I actually examine your comments, you make absolutley no sense at all. Zero. None. You seem like one of those big mouth guys who just likes the speak even when you dont have anything compelling to say.
Either way, I stand by my original tone in my post. THis is a board of encouragement and constructive comments. Your were attacking my work in your original post in a ****y tone - doesn't matter how you choose to sugar coat it. And again, your comments have shown you really don't know much about painting or case modding in general. You just like to zoom and invent artifacts for yourself.
You can reply all you want, but I am done with you. I have more cases to paint...something you obviously are not familiar with!
