Check it out This is a cool project and Cheap. A few dollars in parts. Its a light show for your PStwo grill. The audio from a game, movie or whatever is converted to light. There are 3 bandpass filters spliting the audio spectum into 3 bands low, medium, high. The output is displayed via 3 different color LEDS I used SM type but just about any could be used.
Attached is a MPEG movie with sound of the mod in action.
R4, R5, R6 I ended up using 0 ohm resistors to get MAXIMUM brightness. Matching LED's is a must! Up to 3 led's per band would be OK.

you could also use a 10 segment LED bar with resistor array and make a full graphic display for each band....

Yep and went a step further and modified the circuit a little for a audio light show I put in a Slot cabinet that was converted to a upright XBOX media center. The circuit handles literly hundreds of leds on two audio channels.
Here is a movie of it in action

The top portion is of course in red and to the left and right of the center logo there are 3 bands of different color leds. It worked out awesome. I used high power transistors on the output to handle the many leds. I also have a Different one for the PS2slimline with clear cases Its a multicollered P S 2 logo. Dont forget to see the movie!!!
