Well, black is boring, and since I am damaged in the brain, I can't resist tearing apart every console I get so I can color the damn thing. So I present to you, a White PS2.

This job was tricky, since it would not look good unless I preserved the White mirror v White matte look that the original has. The problem was that the center strip was not just really glossy, it was essentially a mirror, so I had to recreate that in white, and it was a real pain, but I managed.

Other than that, I was a fairly routine job. I used better rubbing compounds on all parts for a smooth finish, as well as auto paint and clearcoats, because this is white, so I didn't want any yellow tints. The pics have a yellow tint, but thats from my room lighting. The real thing is snow white, as I used a pint of BMW paint for this job.

Sorry for the crappy pictures, I literally put this back together 10 minutes ago, so I just took some random pics. Ill take better ones later. I have a red and blue version cooking right now, and then I will make a silver.

I might keep this one, or slang it on ebay, I am not sure. Enjoy!

That looks pretty good. I've been thinking about painting my normal size ps2 for a while now.

    very nice man

And you really did a good job on it

And painted all the bits you can see

    That is A* work man

    very cool

    p.s.
Keeping that black strip could have been cool as it would have provided some contrast and it would still be shiney

The White Strip IS still shiny. That was the hardest part. THe middle picture shows the reflection of light from the strip. It is a mirror finish, just like the original. I am making a red one now, but its damn raining in Los Angeles all week, and I can't paint with such high humidity because I still have to open windows in my workshop for ventilation since I dont have an exaust system. So I might need another week...
