now that you mention it I might take out that red one and slap a blue one in my PS1 dual shock to see what happens. Most LEDs drop the same amount of voltage and current, so the only problem would be the actual size.
Ive changed the analog red led with a 3mm blue led and it work well... Ive tryed a vib led mod and burnt a fuse into my ps2 (changed it with a piece of wire got back the rumble feature but no more led... or ... boom :D) maybe you can put some led on the 5v(3v??) line of the controler so they always light when ps2 is on....
I too have changed out my red led for a blue one. I've found that the 3.3volt LED's are brighter than the 5volt LED's when used to replace the red LED.

To adawg89,
do you have any alternate solder points for the leds,
i dont realy want to connect the LEDs to the motors power supply points i dont want to blow a fuse like you did.
I blew my fuse up on the power eject button I was doing hellticks tutorial when i got done the negative and positive wire crossed over with copper touching and I blew the fuse up in my power eject button.
ive blow the rumble fuse ... maybe 1.4k resitor is too much .. and it drain current...
sorry adawg89 i got the wrong person.
