Thank god we are not in a xbox forum.
agreed, but cost to result ratio is lowest and warranties can be retained.

what PS2 USB library does sony use in the PS2? I know with Gran Turismo 4 they released a new PRX file to update the USB to handle more USB sticks for GT4 photo mode saving...
I somehow doubt its possible it would have the USB hub descriptor bug the PS3 library's had from firmware 2.1? to 3.41. What PS2 hardware was manufactured in this time? possible they used the same 'code' between systems? Im not sure if sony only updated bios to fix security and for hardware changes or if they actually updated the software it ran as well by any measurable means.
Also, the firewire port on V7's and below.. what was that used for? besides looks? and expansion port for the HDloader/modem may have handler bugs too, TCP overflow in FF that used the official HDD.

Even good RAM patching would likely be as good as a BIOS replacement. Im sure we could easily glitch the RAM bus like done with PS3 to dump RAM contents on boot. maybe thats possible in software now...

We don't know what that USB driver was based on as Sony had never released it's source code.

The PS2 does not search for a USB service jig at bootup, and doesn't contain any code in the ROM to handle/access the USB hardware.

    You mean the USB hardware?
The PS2 has got 2 OHCI USB 1.1 ports.

    Most probably, no.
The PS3 has got EHCI USB 2.0 controller(s) and searches for a USB service jig at bootup.

It was used for networking (multiplayer).
Extremely few games ever supported it.

But now I've created a driver, so we can use it with IEEE1394A disks.

It depends on the version of the drivers used, and some PS2s don't even search for updates from the HDD at bootup.

The OSDSYS program (The PS2 browser/screen you see at startup) doesn't seem to have any faults, otherwise we would have alternatives to FMCB now.

Wow you have a working firewire driver for the PS2? Mind sharing as that would be great asset to use.
