Jeppp, but only use the switch when itīs off...
Rgds.
2x3.5-in HDDs? Would that go into your console?
If you really didn't make an error, I would say that it's impossible as the PS2 doesn't really have extra space inside the casing to house a second 3.5-in HDD.
But having a switch to switch between the 2 HDDs... maybe.
You would probably need a modified IDE cable to connect the 2 HDDs to the NA, and then have a switch to direct power to only the active drive.

I have been doing this for years - two HDDs on an IDE lead with two connectors (pretty standard leads), and a Y splitter power cable. I spliced one Y-split off at the end that connects to the Network adaptor and another half way along the lead (long enough to enable a 4 pole 2-way switch. I dont have a camera on me at work but here is a dodgy ASCII plan:
Code:HDD1------\ |switch|------Network adaptor HDD2------/
Naturally what this means is that the IDE bus is always connected no matter what, but when you power down you flick the switch to power a different HDD.
Not that hard really...
Hope it helps, although I dont think a way of having two drives plugged in AT ONCE POWERED is possible - unless you have internal with network adaptor and external with USB....(havent tried)

from what i know the ps2 hdd needs to be master so if one is slave and one is master
im thinking that it would just ignore the slave drive and use the master even if it has power
if that is the case then
any thoughts
Well, I can't say that that will work as you think that it does... because I don't know if the PS2's hardware and/or software was built to support multiple disks (Master + Slave).
What I'm saying here is that you can go ahead and try that... because you're doing something that has probably not been done by anyone before.
@All: If anyone has done it, could you please share with us whether it does work?
As for Brodieman's solution, both disks are set to "Master", and power is being directed to only the active drive.
