major incompatibility with door bell mod!!!!!

figured id start this new thread becuasei just discovered a major incompatibility problem with the door bell mod... i kno you might be asking how the hell... but its a major problem if your using HDD utilities for HD-to-MC saves

when u have the HDD utlility browser installed .... if you use the acual reset button , it will reset your ps2 and then take a scecond to load the the menu to pick the browser (loads files to see HD in that few seconds).... but if you use the door bell MOD to reset the ps2.... when u start it back up... it goes STRAIGHT to the brower and only the MC is seen.... this also has made my matrix infinity not boot an back-up media and also disables the (triangle file booting) on the matrix infinity.... my guess is because when the door bell mod is "rang" it sends a singlnal like its ringing to the ps2 reset button grounding it out , but it seems to send the singnal like if it was an aucaly door bell ring , DING DONGGGG!.... thats why u also cant turn on the ps2 without waiting for the DING DONG to finsih (the DING DONG is slient , no speaker) but my guess is that this causes this problem and it sucks .... that means i need a seprate HD with HDD utility installed and one without for HD loader games , trust me... it might seem weird but ive tested for 3 hours to make sure and sure enough its cause a mess up somewhere, helltick , or anyone else who has done the Door bell mod , please install HDD utilities and test this out , it will also happen to u guys..... damn....:(

Have you tried reading the manual that came with the doorbell and setting the jumpers to single ding? I'm not sure if this will fix your problem, but it seems to let me restart quicker than when I didn't have it set originally.

which jumpers set it to one dong?

it says for just a DING , add a jumper to 8 , i did so and its still the same thing.... since HDD utilitoes is installed , when u use the door bell to boot it up , it act liek my chip is diabled and does nothing :(

Yeah jumper 8 made it work a little better for me, but I'm not sure if this can be fixed for you unfortunatly. Maybe if you can find a point on the board that receives the signal from the remote and use a relay. If you did this it would only actuate the reset switch for as long as you were holding the button. I'm not sure if you can even do that, but if might be worth probing around board and see if you can find a point like this.

u mean a point on the door bell units pcb? on on the ps2 mobo its self....
i need to find a way out cuz id love to use the doorbell mod but if i do , i wont be able to use the hdd utitlies to store save games easy :( its either or

Ding=add jumper to location 8 on transmitter
Ding dong=remove jumper from location 8 transmitter/receiver
This is why you leave original buttons intact(reset/eject) and just tap into them.
I'm sorry to say...from time to time, you might actually have to get up off your ass and push the original button.
The doorbell mod was only meant for use with hdloader for convenience...Nothing else.

It's not magic...
It wont turn chips on/off ..It wont do double taps..Its not meant for playing back up discs..Its just a nice way to reset and launch another game from HDL menu without having to get up and do it manually...Thats ALL!
If I find time, I might look into this...dont hold your breath tho.

I also dont see the need for another thread...All you are doing is wasting space on this board and scaring others from trying this wonderful little mod that was only intended for HDL to begin with!

If you just wanna manage game saves...get a shark-port or something...I certainly wouldnt let something so minor bother me!

Or simply remove the doorbell mod...It's only 3 wires...then your back to normal!

where in the circuit for the reciever does the sound get activated... should be a simple voltage change... you might be able to tap that for the switching....

If the unit is a single chip this will be hard (if not impossible)....

Got an image of the reciever's PCB.... top and bottom... It might be easy to trace it out...

im not gonna take it off to sell becuase i love using it with hdlaoder, but one reason i got the matrix infinity is for the atad paching to see the HDD in the brower.... i would appreciate it u did look into this tho, ur the mod man when it comes to stuff like this , i need this to work for hdloader but i need to work with hdd utility
