Use the USB port but be aware that whicever port u use, that port becomes unusable.. an alternative would be draw it from the Power Supply Unit(PSU) or the last option would be the motherboard..

whats the main purpose for the usb ports??
yo can use the usb ports to use pen drives with ULaunchElf to store data from PS2 to USB Drive.. or connect a usb keyboard or i guess anything usb! lol...

how many leds do u think the usb port can take
I dont really know but i guess as many as you want.. for example if u want to connect 2 3.5v LEDS then if u connect the +ive and -ive from the LED's to the + and - of the USB then they wont work cause then the combined voltage for the LEDS to light up will be 3.5+3.5=7v whereas the USB port gives only 5v and so for that matter you have to connect the + point from LED 1 to - point of LED 2, this way you'll have one spare + and - points and then u connect them to the USB port and they'll light up! This is because earlier we connected the LEDs in parallel and now we connected the LEDs in serial.. but in serial even if one LED stops working then all of them wont work... you can use the serial connection method to connect as many LEDs you want which consume power less than 5v ....

    hope that explanation helped ya..

Series, not serial. And the amount of LEDs you can hook up depends on the maximum current available at the USB port. Im pretty sure the spec allows 100mA, so thats 5 LEDs each running at 20mA each. You can adjust this value with a current-limiting resistor.

    USB can handle 500mA

    And I quote:
A number of devices use this power supply without participating in a proper USB network. The typical example is a USB-powered reading light, but fans, battery chargers (particularly for mobile telephones) and even miniature vacuum cleaners are available. In most cases, these items contain no electronic circuitry, and thus are not proper USB devices at all. This can cause problems with some computers—the USB specification requires that devices connect in a low-power mode (100 mA maximum) and state how much current they need, before switching, with the host's permission, into high-power mode.
