i tried to do the romeo mod but like an idiot, i ended up braking pin 17 on the la-6508 chip
. i desoldered the chip and let me tell ya that it wasn't fun at all!! not having a small tip on the iron made things more difficult. i'm gonna get a replacement but soldering that freaking chip back on isn't going to be easy.
back on subject:
gotta go with HDL all the way dude unless of course you can alternatively use ESR if you can't get your hdd to work with HDL.
