Getting +12v power from controller?

How can you go about doing this? What I am trying to do is get +12v power to power an inverter that controls 2 CCFL 4" lights. Is there a way to obtain power from a solder point on the PS2 controller that can transfer power from the PS2 to the lights?

Sorry if this is confusing at all, I'm trying to use this for a DDR pad that I was thinking of making. I am not sure if this would go in this forum, but I'll post it anyway.

Also if I were to solder to a controller's PCB, do you think I should use a 40 watt soldering iron or a 30 watt?

wat version of ps2 u using cause the point locatio changes from ver to ver...

You will have to hard wire the controller to a 12v location on the motherboard inside the console. Then run a wire to your controller inverter to drive the cathodes.
I will find the 12v location on my mates slimline mobo and post some pics for you.

if you were to hard wire it to the motherboard, I would use a transformer(wallwart,external powersupply)...

Ya, external PSU would be the easiest way to go to get +12v with a ground too.
