I wasn't sure where to post this, but here goes:

When i did my modchip install back in the day, i wasn't too careful removing the controller flex cable from the MOBO, and i broke the brown clamp on the slot... so basically i have it jammed in there with the broken part jammed on top to kinda hold it in with friction, then i taped all that down...

as of lately, my games are giving me hell about not detecting a controller in the ports (and the odd part is that the cable near the plugs are not even remotly being jossled around or moved or anything) and I don't like it... i have to jiggle the parts around and sometimes open it up and reposition it...

does anyone have ideas on what i could do to alleviate this problem? i don't have a lot of money, so buying a new ps2 is out of the question

So you taped it, Well when this happened to me, at first I taped it with no problems, but when I started to get the same thing as you, I hot glued it down adn now it never happened again. And the good thing about hot glue is that is come off fairly easily.
