  1. #1 Brad's Ultimate Ps2 Case LED + other (DVD BURNER) Mods.... :-P
    Siiickened Crow Guest
Continuing off of "Custom Lighting" by zabolyx... An any color LED mod for ur Ps2... You could make your vent or whatever ANY color you wanted... with a clear case u could make ur ps2 light up.. ANY COLOR!!!!! wooeee right?! http://www.lsdiodes.com/multi-color/ go there and get a FULL SPECTRUM led... and my idea for this.. im just going to use the front smaller half vent (My ps2 is vertical so thats my perspective), on that vent, probably one or two LEDs would do the job... Put them in and position how you like, but to get the color changing ness, you would wire a Common power to three pots, and a common neg (ground) to the common cathod... Now from there.. One pot would be for the BLUE part of the LED, one for the RED part of the LED, and one for the GREEN part of the LED, and with that like zabolyx was saying would be a cool mod, you could get any color, but this is better than using 3 LEDs because in this you have ONE that does ANY color you want just by twisting 3 knobs, for my case here are my plans to mod it..
(going off of some of the others ideas, im not trying to rip off, just saying my plans)

*Buy a Dead PS2, gut it, and save parts just in case, Take off the Smaller half
*Buy a PS2 shell, and put the Smaller half away, take the larger (Top if horizontal) half
*Connect the two Bigger Halfs together, Fronts bothing facing the same way, cutting one PS2 logo side off completely and the other just enough to fit over my ps2's smaller halfs side, so in the end you will have a Complete PS2, then two bigger halfs of the ps2.. That's about 4 inches of extra space baby!!

*add a 200 gig HD in my original PS2, add Linux, an Ftp, Network adaptor, Extra cooling, mouse, (already have keyboard....

*Make the casing all pretty for the 2 bigger halves box to make it fit for... A DVD BURNER!! So now its my orig. ps2 bigger and smaller half (ps2 with NA and hdd, etc etc...) then a PS2 half with a DVD burner.. hehehehehehe... then another ps2 half with cooling and lighting and powering and controlling stuff....

This is to all be hooked up to my HDD, so in theory you could copy disks, or burn from the HDD to a dvd... tight huh?!!?

light mods, I want to have those LEDs that are full spectrum through out, a few windows, I will re use the 3rd (just ps2 case) bigger halfs Ps2 logo side that i cut out to cover the back where the smaller half would usually go.... For power for the cooling and lighting and all that extra fun stuff i will use the dead ps2s stuff, I will some how figure out a way to cover up the controller and memory card bays, or if i feel nerdy enough i might just go buy a multi tap or get the schematic for one and make it so the dead ps2's ports are basically just a multi tap from my ps2s ports, then just have to cover up the ps2 CASE's ones , the usb ports i would like to keep if possible being that i plan on using a keyboard, mouse, and mass storage device, all 3 being usb, and im sure i can find another thing to use lol so being able to use all of them would be nifty.. for the Lights that are already on the ps2, I am leaving the eject button on both lighted BLUE, I want to change the reset/stand by button LED to a BLUE/WHITE LED, Blue when asleep, white when when system is "awake".....

I might change the cd tray front cover/door, the memory card door, the buttons, and all the extra little external parts to a fading blue thing, if you look at the Orig. sony vertical stand that was like 2 or 3 colors of blue fading into eachother, kind of painted like that... for a paint job of the sony itself.. i want to paint the exterior black with either blue realistic looking flames or lighting, i am considering buying a clear case, and then masking off the sections of the flame / lightning and making it so they light up, and you could go further being that id have so much excess space to use those full spectrum LEDs in there too and make some sort of PCB that would control the lights to make the flames change color, like little programs, you could have red to yellow flames, blue to white flames, etc etc etc... very cool huh??!!?

For a stand I want to buy another 1 or 2 of the original blue fadey vertical stand, and cut them and make them so it holds my system, for cooling I would have 3 spots for fans automatically from just the cases, change those to LED fans those are 60 mm fans stock right guys? and the LEDs in the reset and eject buttons are 3mm right guys??

also i mentioned controls earlier.... the far right when facing front, outside bigger half... being the "Control box" Maybe i could cut the front off, get some of the 'hills and valley" (look at the top of the ps2 when vertical) stuff and put that over the entire front, make it open like on some TV's and VCR's had, and have the mini pots in there

woo.. my brain hurts lol hows that one for a mod guys?!

oh and to keep all the lights matching controller leds better be blue damnit!!!

oh and crap.. sorry... i feel stupid.. but for the windows.. I want to replace the PS2 logo with a window then have the PS2 logo put on the window, like a sticker or something... and probably have it where it is now, (the logo) and just a big window there, or put it on the bottom half and still have the ps2 logo towards the middle, then put another window on the top half of something else, and do this on the outside part if I find that it'd be spiffy.. also for lighting, maybe cut out the down (valleys) of the hill and valley grate thing (again look on the top of a vert. ps2) and lighting those, or you could just run EL wire thru them, and to be really cool and do it the right way you should "dig" out a little and glue them in if u were to do that... Yeah now im done for the night i promise

hey that's.... oh never mind... LOL

Sounds great.... I just got what you want to do... with the two halves... COOL... more balanced that way....

hey... the windowed PS2.... using a dremel to route the PS2 into the plastic... then use LEDs through the side of the plastic (on the edges) to ligt the logo

yeah i get it thanks man ... i was also thinking for the case.. it might be easier to do it like this

My ps2 CD Tray Half | Dead PS2 Dvd Burner Half | My ps2's Smaller HDD half | Extra Case Bigger Half

for wiring that way its just two cd trays to the hdd, and not having the get the dvd burners cable to the IDE HDD...
