Brad's Ultimate Memory Card Mod..:-P

Ok this is tight. Get prepared... WOOOEEEEEEEE... Ok take your Memory card apart. there will be a few LEDs in this bad boy.. I promise I will make it work..

The lights are as follows
SONY indent on top to be cut out and with diffuser plastic and LED or preferably LED bar, lighted, This will be a power light, and thus on when power is on.... DUH..... I will probably make mine white, if not I will just make them all blue, but the reason for white is I am trying to change my sleep/restart button led to Blue /White so when system on it's blue, when asleep its white....

Underbody, where sticker is... cutting this out, and putting lighting flooding out, down onto like controller plug in area.. got off of the guy wiht the white ps2's idea.... but going further and putting diffuser plastic and making it so you can't see the internal guts of the card,so it kind of looks like just an EL strip was put in....this will be a power and blue.

Front sticker area - the wiring bitch. take apart your card and look at the front sitcker area, there are two layers of plastic, the front will become a window, I will cut the little up flap of the sticker piece off, then cut in a slide in kind of slot for a little plastic window, very thin, prolly diffuser... then put LED behind it, this will be yet again a Power and blue

Now wheres the activity light gunna go!? well well well.. in the front window.. But it's already taken up!!! WHERE!?!? Well you could put in the color changing ones, but that'd be tediouse to wire, so instead im thinking get like 3 leds in there in the front, 2 blue, one white... the white will pulse when active, the blue will be power... the white in center.. to get them to fit is the next thing.

For those of you who are in HS like me, ya know those TI-calcs? well I used to be into modding them, and I found basically everyway to backlight one, EL is too expensive, so what you do is get LED's and sand them down to just before the element. Not on the ends of the case where the leads are but on the sides, look at the LED pic attached... I have done the sanding thing before and it works fine, doesn't get hot or anything.. i know what I'm talking about..

This is my first PS2 mod project and I promise I will figure it out... :)



Things you can do...
I need to find more LED buying places.. I know it's easy to find regular leds, but how about bar ones, back lighting ones, ect? yeah yeah.. also I'd like to find a square one to replace the controller ones, i know you can just replace the red led in the controller too but yeah... blah.. yes I know i am eating off of a few others Ideas, sorry, well this is my ultimate in my mind memory card mod.. have fun.. post pics.. i will as soon as im done, also attached are some wiring diagrams OTHERS made, just so you dont have to go searching through posts to find them, and a Tut on the acess light..... wooeee am i good or what.. all the info.. all the pics... all the instructions.. :) ok i could have done better and when im done maybe ill make a little online tut with all my pics and such but i think this will kick ass... have fun bye

(yes, its me , behold one of the first people to mod a memory card lol) i did not use a resistor for the power light attached to the memory card slot pins.... the voltage that runs thru there is 3.7 volt ... thats amazing , i had just happen to buy a 3.7V 5mm blue LED and sanded it down on each side like u said .... works perfect... i like your ideas and when i get a chance , imma also do the activity light, but what is this diffuser plastic? please explain , and where can i get it

well defuser plastic to sort out the light in different direction.

laymans terms, it spreads the light out, you put in an led in like a hole so like this

really rough and crappy but it makes one LED light up what would have taken many to do...downside is you have certain bright spots where the leds are that are much brighter than the spots where the light is just reflected to.. on the calcs people put metal foil on the bottom and sides when done to act as a mirror to get all the light up and out... none wasted lighting the inside of the calc

you also should try using less LEDs... although they don't draw much current... you plan on having enough LEDs in your cards to light a small city....

this extra draw may make the current needed for the flash memory fluctuate too much and cause brownouts in the memory = data corruption......

it'd look cool but just how cool is a bastard card that randomly &^%$ up a game save...

figure up the usage of the card and then check the usage that the LEDs will use... try not to use more than say 40% of what the card needs... If possible I'd try cutting down on the number of LEDs to 3 or 4 at most... One super bright white LED with good use of diffuser can light most of what you want... and then just worry about the activity light.

where can i get this diffuser plastic? hobbie shop?
ALSO... DO THEY MAKE BLACKLIGHT led's ?
do they also sell a spary that u can spray on plexiglass to make it glow in the dark?

IR LEDs are made... but UV.... haven't heard of.... tat would be super sweet though...

nope, still cant find them at all

ESPI69 try your hobby shop.... and your local Hardware store.... they might have one for florecent lights.... try a frosted one... but those aren't the best types...

If you're lucky you'll find a good one at the hoby shop... hopefully the employee will have some clue what you're talking about.

Uv leds sell on ebay. Altought i think they are just purple leds u gotta buy and try them
