I would like to play backups of my old PSone games using the fmcb soft mod option. I have yet to find a good overall tutorial on esr. Anyway is there a way to boot burned backups of ps1 games on cdr, or a way to get esr to boot a somehow tweaked dvd backup of ps1 games, or can they be booted from usb stick or drive?

Also a quick question about PS2 backups for esr... All the tutorials say use IMGburn to rip the iso. Great, but are there any special options or setups for the rip? I have some experience with IMGburn and there are a lot of parameters one can set when ripping an iso.

Forgive my noobness and thank you for your time.

It's impossible to launch PSX game copy by FMCB or even ESR (maybe in the future another launcher with CDX/UMCDR support? who knows ). Just like impossible to move PSX game to DVD... Are You used search option?

For now, only way to launch PSX copy by FMCB is using emulator which is still in development stage. Be patient.

Great, but are there any special options or setups for the rip?
What do You mean by "special options"?

PS2 DVD image could by made by every burning software. There are nothing special in this compilation: ISO9660+UDF1.02, one and close session, mode1. That's all. Sometimes in DVD9, there is a non standard layer break, but this will by write in media descriptor.

The only future for playing ps1 backups without using a swap method like Breaker Pro or a Modchip is for the fabled "ps2psxe" emulator that ffgriever is writing.

The only thing PS2 games need to run with the ESR.elf is to rip it as a PS2 iso and patch the dvd with the ESR patcher on your PC. Most games run under the ESR method.

When using IMGBurn just use defaults and burn at 4x. I always make sure I use 2.4x for 360 games though...

Thank you for the informative replies. Sad about the psx stuff, but maybe ica find a yard sale psx and mod it someday. Speaking of antiques, my dreamcast was ordered yesterday, so time to dust of the stack of cdrs from, wow has it really been ten years, ago.
