USB Flash drive as PS2 Memory Card?
USB Flash drive as PS2 Memory Card? –
A few years back I was messing around with some exploit/elf that apparently turned your flashdrive into a memory card. The program could of been bogus but it seemed pretty legit to me. If you can tell me what the program was called that would be very helpful.
Using a USB drive as a genuine MC in all ways is simply not possible, as the PS2 itself does not contain any USB drivers.

And later when you want to return to those 'removed' games you simply restore the backups from USB to the real MC again. There are many different softwares available for this purpose, including both commercial solutions and homebrews.
But there is another method whereby gamesaves are made directly to non-MC media.
This is done by using a "Virtual Memory Card" file to simulate a normal MC, and it is then possible to use separate such VMC files for each game, so that MC space is never a problem. But the tricky part in this usage is to load and activate VMC device drivers such that they remain active throughout a game session.
Early implementations of VMC for the PS2 relied on rebuilding game ISOs so as to include a loader for VMC device drivers in each game ISO, so that they would be activated before the real game files, when the game ISO was launched from a game loader or as a burned backup disc.
Other implementations allowed a separate homebrew elf file to be used to activate VMC device drivers before launching a game by optional means, including game loaders.
But one common problem with all the old VMC implementations is that they had fairly low compatibility with the games, and also had device driver conflicts with some of the game loaders.
Today there is a much better solution available, integrated with the game loader "Open PS2 Loader v0.8" (aka: OPL v0.8).
OPL allows access and creation of VMC files stored on the same storage medium as the game image files, which can use either of HDD, USB, or a networked PC, with full VMC compatibility to all those media and to the majority of games. Only a few games must still be played using physical MC.

as dlanor says so,you can't create memory cards on ps2 that works with game disk, but you can do it with open ps2 loader 0.8,i would also like to add that you can also do it with hdloader you can download the elf file to create the mem card for hdloader from here, you will need ulaunch or any other elf launcher:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
look for the elf file in the bin forder
People! english it's my second languaje so if i make mistakes on any post i made please don't start making noise of it, as i don't have perfect domain of the english.
Ma first languaje it's spanish if you wanna know.
And I would like to add that HDLoader should not be used unless OPL simply won't play your games. At all. Ever.
