    On a forum I was reading up on a method to mod PS2s, using the "tape and tissue" method. However, I didn't read the entire thing (stupid me, tl;dr). It apparently only works on slims.

    Is there a mod I can do while I have my PS2 apart so that I can play my PSX/PS2 imports/backups, since I've already got the case ready to be taken apart?

    Indeed, this is the mod I was looking to install. I was going to do the disc-swap method, using MGS3. I had done everything properly, however, because my PS2 still detects when the drive is opened, I was unable to properly install Free McBoot to my Memory Card.

    Is there a way to stop the drive from detecting it being opened?

    Did you opened up your PS2, or how did/do you swap the disc?

    All I originally did was what they said to on the website, not knowing I needed to have modded my PS2 beforehand. I modified the file they gave me to fit onto MGS3 properly, burned a copy, started MGS3, got to the main title screen, hit start to get to the menu, swapped discs, and went to the downloads thing.

    It would then give me an icon basically telling me that it doesn't recognize the disk.

    So I hadn't done anything to mod it at that point. Then someone posted the "tissue and tape" method for slim PS2s, and afterward I had taken all of the screws out and am able to easily remove the top of the case.

    If someone did the mod with this game somewhere, just request the modified ELF and possibly an IML-File, before you create your new disc.

    You have no other way, like a volunteer in your neighborhood, a cheat-device, a modded PS2 or something?

    I'd prefer to not have to have to send my memory card to someone I don't know.

    Also, I'm not technically stupid, so I'm fairly sure I did the disk part correctly. I did exactly what the website said, and it turned out as it should. I just need a way to make my PS2 not know I open the disc tray.

    The only thing I have is a friend living in California (well, he lives in Mexico, but has a PO box in CA) who would mod my memory card for me. But I'd rather not pay for shipping to and from CA from MI. >_>;

    Thatīs o.k., but you still can ask in the volunteers-thread, if someone lives right next to you.

    The best/only way I can think of with this install-method, is the hot-swap with opened case and drive-cover.

    Hm,... Maybe you have another game to try with.
    I think, the swapping should be performed fast.

    Okay, so can you show me a guide to how to do a swap with my case opened that will allow me to install the stuff to my MC?
