Swap Magic - Need to do anything when burning the disc?

Hey, I ordered a Swap Magic disc and I want to prepare and make backups of the games.
I wonder if I need to do anything to the disc before I burn it. (Patch?).
Or do I just copy it as-is and it will work with swap magic?

I know that I can install Free McBoot but I wont do that until I get a new memory card.

If you are planning on playing your backup games with SWAP MAGIC, then the answer is NO you do not have to patch your game .ISO's.

Now if you are wanting to play your back up games with FMCB the answer is YES you will have to patch the game .ISO before burning it..


Use IMGBurn to back up all your games, Not Nero, or Alcohol 120, or any other program.. IMGBurn is the best...

Another thing to mention. The ESR-Patching "doesn´t hurt".
If you think about using FMCB later, you also could patch your games with ESR-Patcher before, since it makes no difference to SwapMagic if the disc is ESR-patched or not.

If you patch your DVDs for ESR, you dont even need to do any swapping, so save your SwapMagic CD, as that you will need for PS2 CD game backups because ESR doesnt support CDs, so no need to patch them.

I installed FCMB directly after realizing I have to keep the tray "open" on my fat PS2. Don't want all that extra dust in there

I noticed, my GTA:SA wont boot without the ESR-Patch but the other games do and they have ESR.

I would also like to know if I can burn the emulator elf files to a CD and then run them from there?

Good glad you got it going..... As for your emulators, you can run most of them from USB, MC, or even internal HDD...

Nope sorry you can NOT play PS1 backups with FMCB/ESR.

You need to use a Original PS1 game and a PSXLauncher.ELF, you can find it in one of my other posts here somewhere.

We all were noos at one time or another..
