Swap Magic 3 + PS2 Fliptop
Swap Magic 3 + PS2 Fliptop –

Well i just orderded and recieved this
www .gocybershopping.com/customer/product.php?productid=161&cat=0&page=&xid=6b9b1141 990892d4fe85e95c79a9ab39
for my V7 Phat PS2. and i have two problems.
First off it was installed easy and good. but now when i put a game in thru the slider one (like your supposed to) and then let it read, you can hear the disc spining really fast its really loud and sounds REALLY bad.
i found a temp fix for this.. u have to press down on the flip top in the center. to hold the disk from bouncing around at 200mph. is there anyway i can fix that? bend the plastic a bit? i unno...
and secondly i recieved two disks. the cd one and the dvd one. i tried the cd one first and it worked. but i tried the dvd one and it didn't work. all it does is start to load then go back to the browser then load and it loops about 3 times untill it says disc read error.
so i checked the back of the disk and it is scratched and sumdged and has these spots on it. i know that couldn't be my fault but whatever. is there anyway to fix that or any other possible causes.
also it was left outside in about 5 degrees celcius for about two hours. (the ups guy never rang the doorbell or knocked >_<) so could that cause the plastic to bend upwards? or the dvd to stop working? should i just return it and get it replaced?...
i dunno what else to do. ive contacted them tho.

First of all, i was going to comment such a cheap site, except the shiping is 8.xx to US. What a nice lure for US ppl.
-Back on track here, did you replace the white disc holder for the flip cover? that prevents it spinning to 200 mph and flys out.
-For dvd disc, maybe its your backup disc thats fukkd, try using a real game.
-From my friend's experience, his PS2 and his dvd swap disc are like against each other. Its like reads badly for him, could be same for you.
um. final suggestion, email the company about the smudges and sratches.
PS2: 80gb Maxtor with MC exploit.
Wii: US + WiiKey

i chose that site because they are about an hour away from me
and yes i put the white thingy in. and u can tell just by looking at it from the outside that the plastic is not perfectly flat.
i have tried a real game and it loads. but the dvd swap magic still hasn't loaded. and i called them so i think im going to exchange it.

I'm having the same problem with the disc spinning thing ...
I put two rocks ontop of the ps2 and it plays ok but I'm looking for a better solution >.>;
BTW both of my swap magic discs work fine...

I too have this disc spinning issue on my ps2. Is removing the white retainer on the lid and manually placing it on the disc the only viable option to solve this?

he is using the slide tool so he hasnt even opened his ps2. all swap magic disks spin really fast and do quite a bit of thrashing but dont worry. signs of damage to look out for turn your swap magic disk upside down and you will notice unlike all other ps2 disks it is in segments where it is burned check the first segment and see if there is any scratches or deep grooves this means your laser is either
1. un-aligned or
2. it is to high
to fix problem sadly you need to open ps2 for both fixes and take the cover off the dvd drive .
for problem No.
1. on the left hand side of the laser unit where it attatches to a cylindrical pole you will see a very small aln key this you can be slackened to lower and tightened to raise but do not over tighten as this will stop the laser moving back and forward. so if the laser is scratching you obviously need to raise the arm but its best to mark the original place that the screw was, tipex is good. if its worse just restore back to original position.
2. this is the most likley solution there is a white wheel at the back middle (unless you have one version of ps2 that i cant remember at the moment which has 2) mark the start position with a marker pen and turn the wheel (i usually I do 3 clicks at a time) turn the wheel anticlockwise put the lid of the dvd drive and try to load both a cd based game and a dvd based game keep doing doing the 3 click moves until the drive wont read one of the other kind of games when it does this go back the the last working position test again and if alls well screw back together.
warning warning warning
this may or may not shorten laser life expectancy
test all media originals and backups
this is an early sighn of laser wear in my experiance
hope this helps better than the previous answers

I just got my swap magic discs and i installed the flip-top mod, and at first it was spinning really fast and making weird noises and then i looked under the top cover, and i took the white disc holder out and replaced it with the one the PS2 had, and it fixed the problem, no noises or spinning like crazy.
BTW: The reason why it worked is cuz the magnet on the mod fliptop is weaker than the magnet that was on the PS2 one.
