Can some one help me here....

Im thinking about buying a NEW v12 PS2 and recently noticed these SWAP magic discs and how you can install switchs (swap tools) or what ever they are called without opening the PS2.

just saw this switch swap tool apparently installs without even opening the PS2......

I just wanted to know will this SWAP MAGIC discs boot any backup I have, and can it boot any import game without problems.

Is it really as simple as booting the MAGIC disc then simply inserting your backup or import game?

Well, I got one of the replacement lids (yes, I had to break the warranty seal, boo hoo hoo) and a set of Swap Magic discs. I'm still waiting on my Sega Ages Space Harrier and Stellvia imports to arrive, so I searched Google for something to write on a CDR and landed here.

Wandered around some links, got PSMS written to a CDR (I'm unhooking my SMS to hook up the PS2, so the more replacements for Space Harrier I get, the better), and the Swap Magic ran it just fine.

I don't exactly know how it works with the little insert things, but yes it's pretty simple. After the Swap Magic boots, it stops the disc to let you take it out and put in the disc you really want to run. With the replacement lid I just open it up to replace the disc. No trouble, seems to work great.

i have a set of swap magic 3.3 for sale

all you have to do is disable 3 lid sensors on the slim pstwo

after that you just pop in the swap magic disc, wait for it to stop spinning then swap with a backup/import

leave me a pm if you are interested in buying the swapmagic discs

I recently got the SM 3.3 for my new PSTwo.

I did the straw method of fooling the sensors but I had to play the backup with the lid open as I couldn't close it properly. (I could have done a better job and make it close, but I didn't.)

Anyway, I've ordered the PSTwo flip-top like Neil. When I open up my PSTwo I'm going to try to save the warranty seal.

from reading i assume you dont have chipped installed in your pstwo. but your pstwo still plays backups fine just using swap magic. will this work for a regular ps2 too?

I'm interested in the very same products but as I did a search there is one topic in the vendor forum in which 2 post say not to trust that website that is selling it. Also on a web based rating site had linker4u with some bad reviews about. Does anyone know if those tools (the 3 pieces of plastic) will be sold on other sites? I know there still new and all but any ideas to where or a site that is trust worthy?

its basically the straw method (as above) but just in a nicer way

all these do are fool the lid sensors

and then u use your swap magic like in a ps2

not all games will work but most will.
http://www.swapmagicfix.com <- there's a list over games that wont work but you can use a cd loader and the sm to get the games to work (havent tried this myself though)

You can get the Swap Magic 3.3 discs and the pstwo switches/caps as well as a fliptopd lid for PS2 at www.ps2fliptop.net they have a good selection and real good shipping/turnaround time.

    solidusuk,

yes, the SM discs will run just about everything provided the images you've burned were properly created. I don't know if the v3.3 update to the SM discs did anything special, but I've never had to use CDloader or Cogswap, or any other swap fix. All my backups have always worked with a single swap of the SM boot loader.
The only game that never work was an Jap import of "Initial D" its a PS2 CD but the disc size is like 690MB and I always got a "Not a Valid PS2 Disc" error with either the CD or DVD SwapMagic Disc.
Other than that, everything ran perfect
