I tried running DV8's tutorial @ ps2hd.com on my friends SM3.0 disc and it always freezes on the load screen. Do I need a newer version of SM in order to run the "homebrew cd-r" or am I doing something wrong?

Most likely you are doing something wrong. Have you managed to boot anything else? I dont know whats on the tutorial but make sure you are using the CD swap magic with the burned CDR and.. well try to boot a known working copy of something else first then try the exploit disk. I think most likely you just made a bad burn.
U may actually have the sm version 3.2 which still says 3.0 in big text on the disc and on screen, but 3.2 is written in smaller text on the disc. I have this problem if there isn't much data on the disc (a common problem with version 3.2). U just need to add a dummy to make the bigger. Just make a folder called "DUMMY" and make it the first folder on ur disc before everything else. Then put a bunch of random big files in the folder. Make sure u don't make ur disc over 632mb, because it may not work.

That is exactly the kind of disc I have!Hmm I did make a disc with about a 100mb dummy file. I will try to make one with an even larger dummy and see if that works. I just bought a GameShark V2 I found today at my local EBGames. Can I use that somehow? I heard it can boot backups? How do I do that?

Okay, I find a tutorial on ausdigital.net that says that it's as simple as the swap trick, but I've had no luck getting mine to work still? Maybe I did create the exploit cd wrong? I've made so many copies already following all the rules int he book. I don't get it...
