    Nope, I tried the Normal Install... I can still give a go with the Multi Install.
    but if you take a look at the back of my PS2 you'll see that I have the "8C" one...

    Guess I'll have to stick with disc swapping or return with the dreaded conversation "how to upgrade/downgrade PS2 bios".

    You have a 8c datecode. most likely you have the updated bios that negates the ability to use FMCB.

    @Bootleg: There is a chance, that he still have the 2.20 BIOS, because some 8c-Models still contain it.

    @MegaShark: About your "upgrade/downgrade ps2-bios"-idea,...

    AFAIK, the only way is to replace the BIOS-Chip. :-/

    Tried the Multi install, but still no success... the google search on "update ps2 bios" isn't very insightful... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...te+ps2+bios%22

    does anyone know the name of the ELF app that checks ps2 bios version?

    Thanks

    What about these programs on SKS Apps:

    Dump Bios This is a prog to dump your ps2 bios to a file.
    DVD Scan v3.7 This is a prog to dump your ps2 bios to a file.

    do they also check BIOS version?...
