slim ps2 and MC launcher

Wondering if anyone has had this problem, had a look about and didn?t see anything so thought I would post,
I been booting games with a MC launcher/exploit and cogswap on a standard ps2, however when I tried doing the same with the slim ps2 the MC launcher didn?t load with the ps1 game, it just went to play the game, does this exploit not work on the slim ps2?
