    Hey guys, i'm a big noob when it comes to this MC exploit stuff, but i just had a simple question: How do people install .ELF files onto the memory card when they have a modchip, and would like to use dev mode to boot the ELF file. Would they use the independence compiler without the Title.db? Thanks a lot for your help.

    Well, first we need to know which modchip u got...
    if its Matrix or CC which supports Dev1 Boot then...

    How do people install .ELF files onto the memory card
    I'm sure you'll have some way of running uLF on your PS2, if u ait got FTP then jus burn a CD... well, after uLF boots up, put watever elf you want to boot from the MC to a USB drive or on the same cd but in a different folder.. copy the BOOT.ELF(case sensitive) to a folder you have to create on MC0 called BOOT... once done... use your chips Dev1 mode to boot it...
    OR
    If your chip does'nt support Dev1, then search for LOAD.RAR here on the forums and copy the file you wanna boot from MC to the BOOT folder... burn a CD with LOAD.ELF(in the rar file).. then weneva you wanna boot from MC, you have to insert that CD which u burned...

    uLF is short for Unofficial Lauch Elf.. you can get it at..its an app with which you can run homebrew on the PS2 and also browse your MC or HDD with it.. its got a lot more uses than this.. read the thread linked below...

    uLF (unofficial LaunchELF v4.42)

    when i get uLF can i use ELF files i copied to a usb drive and use the uLF (im assuming its software) to send the files over to my mc?
    Ofcourse you can do that.. but first you'll have to get uLF booted up on your PS2 with probably a CD if u dont have it anywhere wlse on your PS2.. after a while you'll see it a really useful app...

    What u read is both true and not true... The BOOTc.ELF is the compressed form of uLF... its best to put that file on the MC instead of the BOOT.ELF which is bigger than BOOTc... rename it to BOOT.ELF and put it on the MC... and if you want to make a bootable CD, then put the already present BOOT.ELF file in it... but its no harm even if you put the BOOT.ELF on your MC...

    Hope that helps ya..

    No, its not... you have to make it.. in order to do that.. open up notepad and type in the contents of the system.cnf file and then go to save, choose all files as format and put in system.cnf as the file name.. if you've written everyhting correctly in it the way it was shown in the video, then there should'nt be a prob..
    otherwise if you're still confused as what to write in it, then heres a template for you.. copy paste this and in notepad and save as directed..

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\BOOT.ELF;1
    VER = 1.04
    VMODE = PAL/NTSC

    instead of boot.elf there, you can put in the name of the elf you want to boot from the cd.. but i guess you're makin a cd for uLE, so let it remain that way and just copy the BOOT.ELF file from the uLE zip directory you downloaded.. and make the cd as shown in broodje's video...

    this should you be on your way...
