I have a satin silver PS2, still within the warrantee period, a model of PS2 that's rarer than rocking horse shit, so I don't really want to dismantle this one just yet.

I've got a Swap Magic set with the Slidetool, but I'm unsure of how to remove the front panel from the DVD Drive, as there's no screw. Could anyone help ?

    Thanks
Why the **** would I want a Caravan that's got no ****in' Wheels ?

Yeah you're probably right. After reading up on that slide tool thing, I can honestly say that I wouldn't let it near my machine.

I've been looking for a silver flip top cover, which in theory would work just fine, but it doesn't seem like there is one, and modchips can be hard to come by where I live.

    Thanks anyway.

Just go with a modchip man. And there are plenty of modders here in which you send your ps2 and they'll get it back to you in a week-2 tops.

Well I'm not in America, so that's not the case.

Since seperate laws were passed on modchips in Britain last year, dependable and professional modders are becoming very difficult to find, you can't even have them fitted in the Chinese District of my City anymore.

The only place I know of for sure, is a local Computer Trade fair, but they are both expensive and untrustworthy, and I don't really like the idea of paying £60 + to have my laser switched for an old crappy one, and for a modification which may not even work anyway.

I'm not new to this stuff, I've had two modded PS2's already, and I've modified several Xboxes myself, but my skills just wouldnt be up to this job. Can you think of any solderless options, or should I maybe just opt for a Black v9 Flip top that I can custom spray silver myself later on ?

Thanks for your replies and your help
