ulaunch stops the disc, and can return you to the ps2 browser, under misc.
I made up my own quick and free mod for that, I just cut out a slot in the groove that runs along the front of the tray facia plate, for the stupid "slidecard" trick, nobody sees that unless I tell them it's there, it's hard to see, and that thig doesnt have to stay off for the slide-thing trick. The bonus I got is that it lines the slidecard up perfectly every time under the tray, and it actually makes that trip very simple, I can do it blindfolded, now, you can't get the thing over the tray, if you tried. It works on 50k's, too, I now know for sure, as of last night. The stupid ps emblem can stay, it's not in the way, cut the slot on the right of it to bout a 3rd of an inch fron the end, I can do it by opening the tray and offing the psu, with it out, and leaving the thing together, you need a drillbit, but not a screwdriver.
That one is actually really popular, poeple like this arrangement, for whatever reasons. Probably just cause it's free, and difficult to see. Personally, I'm embarassed that I do it to it, after as many mod installs I've done, that I don't actually have a modded console of my own, but I just dont learn as much from a chipped machine, and don't think the convenience is worth the trade, not even if the modchip was free. you really dont have to get anything right with one of those, it'll try to boot a coaster it fits when you chip them, whats the fun it that?

im going to test the ulaunchelf trick real quick since im so used to using keylaunch.

Edit: I just tested it and it worked. I had to turn disc control on otherwise the disc kept spinning. I'm going to stick with this method that way i dont have to swap memory cards.

I have a V9 and just use the ROM0:OSDSYS trick. I also have a V5 which i just got so i am going to test that browser trick tonight and i will post results.

This only works with a V9 PS2. I've tried it with a V3?(30004), V7 and V10, but no luck.
