    Hi there.

I tried to load psx backups like written HERE.
I think you all know the "KeyLauncher/Launchelf" Method for loading Psx games.

First i tried to trigger the exploit with a PS2 demo disk, that only had about 90mb content on it. I found out, that it was nearly impossible to start any psx backup. Only one loaded until the Ps Bootscreen and then hung up.
Then i thought that it would be better with disks that have more stuff on it. The biggest game i found had about 620mb.
And it realy helped. I could start all games.

Now you think, what is the problem?
The problem is, that i hear the motor of the cd drive spinning up, and shortly getting slower then again spinning up and getting slower, and so on. I also recognise, that because of that, the games load much longer than they normal should. The second problem is, that if there is a game that loads more data at once, then i got an cd error. (because of not getting the data in time?)
Also the backup of small games with only 200mb does have the same cd drive problem.

Does anyone know this problem? Is this a problem of the TOC of the starting psx disk? And what does TOC mean (the higher the mb, the bigger the TOC?)?

I dunno exactly what the prob is, i really dont know that much about the launchers, but try using a ps one game instead of a ps2 one. Because I have an unmodded ps2(version 10 i believe) without any swapdiscs, and all i do to play my psx backups is go to the ps2 browser, press the eject button put a psx game in, press the eject button again to close. Let the ps2 read the disc until it shows the disc in the browser. Then what i do is swap it with a backup and then i press X and it boots without any probs. ( I have the ps2 cover unscrewed so i can take it off whenever i want. So to swap i take off the black cover thing that holds the white magnetic disc, take out the disc, put the backup in, and put the black cover back on that holds the white magnetic disc.)...SO i dunno man, sorry hope you figure out whatevers wrong

hell, I've tried both of these methods on versions 4 through 8, and with the browser top off (I call that the "down-n-dirty" swap) and with the launchelf (and before it's time, with dms explorer to return to the browser, same thing) and they hang after the splash screen, at best, too. been thinking about making a new psx exploit from Jums boot menu, maybe I'll try that later today, but that's pushing a long shot, and I'm not that optomistic about it.
I'm not sure that a psx exe will run if I have to name it "boot.ELF", that extention is a contradiction in itself, but I'll try since the exe can be named a sony product code, so there is a chance that the name is irrelevent, but not a very good one.
we'll just have to find out, I suppose.
Did you say you actually got one of these methods to actually work?? I've tried counless times, and every possible variation, and it NEVER worked for me, and the disc I used to try to boot is my imbnes, which has barely 100mb on it, so TOC should'nt be any kind of issue, and to be sure, I ran that same build on a friends modded psx (well, I gave him a copy, and he loved it) and it worked fine. I noticed though, that I got the standard psx splash screen even though I patched mine to splash the ps logo, but it says "IMBNES by Allen B.", and that took, it came up on the modded psx... hmmm..

No, it's used with keylauncher. In keylauncher you can select button configs and gives you the option to manually input a command. Inputting the command ROM0:OSDSYS, will boot back to browser. So, after swapping a ps1 game in then executing the command, it will boot back to browser and you can load the backup. Note: this is only reported to work with v9 consoles. Something bout the bios version. It is also inside launchelf but i forgot the exact command.

that explains it, I only tried versions up to 8, I'm an old fasioned 30k kinda guy, 10k's are sweeter, but tempermental, expensive, and very japanese, so also hard to come by. 70k's are the best fishing weights, because they're smaller, and easier to cast, but they're otherwise not good for much, in my book.

My stupid "psxploit" failed, although it did turn my whole screen a really cool, blue, though. Hey, I'll try anything once.
