Ps2 swaping with cover off

I dont have a modchip, swapdisk or slide card so I tried taking my cover off of my ps2. I Tested out the swapping method and i can succesfully load Ps1 backups. Now i havent tested ps2 games yet but i will try that after. I also tried the exploit installer cd on it. But it stops at the playstation screen. For some reason it wont boot the cd. Maybe the swapping method only works on backups? Do i need to use Gameshark to swap? If anyone has any expierence then you can discuss here with me.

You should just make a slide card. Use an old credit card or whatever and there are guides around how to make one.

i made one before. but then i ended up screwing up my disk tray with it lol. That was about a year ago. So i had to open the ps2 up and place the disk tray in the right spot. But im curious what you can do by swaping. Like i want to install the exploit but im not sure if u can do that by just swapping???

top off, tray removed, elevator blocked/motor unplugged, the white magnetic "locker" in the "free floating" mode (like floating around the house, somewhere) is how I always use mine, and always have. if it works, dont fix it.
