PS2 Independence Exploit

I'm trying to install the independence exploit from a CDROM onto a PS2 memory card. Ive followed these instructions: http://ps2emu.dcemu.co.uk/ps2homebrew3.shtml

When I put the CD into the PS2 it loads, but I have no idea if the exploit gets installed because the screen is totally black. Afterwards, when I try to boot with the PSX game that I added to the TITLES.DB it just boots normally. It doesn't open the program I specified under FILES/.

This is how I burned the Exploit CD:

\CDVD.IRX
\EXPINST:ELF
\SYSTEM.CNF
\TITLE.DB
\FILES\BOOT.ELF


Where BOOT.ELF is a renamed file of PS2MENU.ELF

If I've understood correctly, I would be able to start backup games through PS2MENU, using a swap method(which I'm able to do). Correct me if I'm wrong.

I would be very greatful if anyone would be able to provide help or suggest a better solution to play back-up games through this exploit or another. Thanks :)

BTW: I have AR2 if that helps

using ps2 menu-k as your boot elf is not a good idea. i wasted alot of cds using ps2 menu-k as my boot elf. you should use launch elf as your boot.elf its the best program. :) hope that helps make sure you follow the steps exactly from www.ps2exploit.tk

Ok, thanx for the help, but I have more problems.

I figured out how to install the exploit properly, however I can't get any ELF file to boot. I've tried both Launch.ELF and PS2MENU.ELF. Both of them starts to load, but then the screen just goes black.

What am I doing wrong?
Are there similar ELF files (which would let me boot backup games) that I could try?

no man by far keyloader .4 is the best loader so far i love that thing load elfs from m cars usb drive or hard drive and the set up is ez in game set up i love it

I must not have the same files you guys do because I don't have "LAUNCH.ELF". I'm just curious what program you're referring to here. Is it PS2Menu 2.6? PS2Menu-K?

EDIT: Okay, I think I figured out you mean an entirely separate ELF launcher. Now, I'm trying to find a place to get it because it sounds like what I want to use from what I've found on it. Could someone point me in the right direction? I can't find it.

well im talking about keylauncher_0.4 u can set a button for eack elf file with it and the set up is ez o man its the best and u can load from hdd usb key drive or mem cardcheck it out man i like it way better then psmenu

Okay, what I've found appears to be PS2Menu-K. Is that the LAUNCH.ELF you're referring to? The unmentionable site banned me for some reason (I think because I tried mentioning WinHIIP... damn nazis over there) so I can't download it to check it out.

I know what ur prob is u don't have the order right "files" goes on the top heres a pic of how it should be set.
