OK I bought myself a slim line ps2 a while ago model SCPH-79001. I had also bought the Swap Magic 3.8. I tried different copies of HDLoader & HDAdvance with my external hard drive (btw its a Western Digital 160gb Notebook External Hard Drive). With HDAdvance, it sees the game fine but when I press X to play, it gives me a black screen and thats it. Can anyone help?

    Hi there.

Does using HDLoader even work? I thought that was for built in harddrives. Anyway, its possible to use a program called USBExtreme to boot your games....its easy and free. In fact, I learned how to do it today and have the same harddrive as you (albeit bigger). I haven't got it to work yet because I used a non supported game, but I got it to load the boot screen.

    Anyway heres what to do.

    STEP 1:
    Download UsbXtreme: http://sksapps.com/hd/USBExtreme_wininst.zip
    Download UsbAdvance:http://sksapps.com/hd/USBAdvance.rar

    Step 2:

Extract both, and leave usbextreme alone for now. Open up USBAdvance and open up the .bin file. There should be a file called "USBADVN.ELF". Now, create a folder on your hard disk entitled, SWAPMAGIC. Inside this, paste the .elf file. Rename this file SWAPMAGIC.ELF

    Step 3:

Now open USBExtreme. Where it says Cd/dvd rom drive, select where your backup is located. Select whether its a dvd or cd, and finally, where it says harddrive, choose your external hard drive. Now hit Start. This should take awhile, so dont expect it to be a 5 minute process. It took me about 45 minutes.

Thats it! Plug into ps2 and enjoy!

Also, NOT ALL GAMES WORK WITH USB EXTREME.
This list says which ones are compatible and which ones aren't.

    Hope I helped! Enjoy!
